True Grit Original Woodturners Abrasive Wax Paste - Made in Yorkshire

True Grit is a Wax based, all natural, Abrasive Wax Paste. Hand blended in West Yorkshire.

True Grit is a new wax based abrasive paste for woodturners, made completely of natural and ethically sourced ingredients. True Grit has already been well received both online and at woodturning shows. Well-respected woodturners such as Emma Cook RPT, Mike Waldt and Mark Beckett RPT use and endorse the product.

Key Features

  • True Grit is a wax based abrasive paste, made completely of natural and ethically sourced ingredients, all the way to the tub and labels!
  • True Grit is designed to take your workpiece from 240 Grit up to around 1000 Grit, whilst reducing airborne dust, leaving you with a silky smooth end product.
  • True Grit can be used as your final finish or as a stepping stone between sanding and your final wax finish. As well as a final finish it also works amazingly well to denib and polish a lacquer finish, bringing your finished item up to a near-mirror gloss!
  • True Grit is like liquid sandpaper, reducing scratches left by the initial sanding and eliminating fine dust produced by traditional sanding at higher grades.
  • 140g

Applications

How to use:

  • Sand your item to 240 Grit. We find sanding through the grits, sanding both radially with the lathe running and laterally with the lathe stationary work well to remove any sanding rings.
  • Apply a coat of sanding sealer and wait for it to dry. Now apply a thin coat of True Grit to the piece.
  • Turn on the lathe and run at around 400-600 rpm. Work in the wax using a paper towel. The Abrasive in the wax will start to break down making your piece smoother whilst trapping the fine dust within the wax.
  • When you are happy with the finish turn up the speed on your lathe and using a clean piece of paper buff until no residue.
  • If you wish to apply a top coat, wax finishes can be added directly ontop. If wishing to use a non wax be sure to remove any remaining wax before applying your finish. The can be done with White Spirit or Meths.
  • Now take a seat and admire your handy work!
